Magnemite Illustration

Magnemite

The pre-evolution of Magneton. Magnemites are attracted to electromagnetic waves and often approach trainers using pokégear, pokédexes and rotom phones. They are quite friendly and, despite being electric type, are unlikely to shock people unless provoked. They are also attracted to power lines a circuit breakers and often cause power outages.

As their name implies, they're also magnetic! It's not uncommon for Magnemites to get stuck to fridges and other appliances, so keep an eye out. They also use their electromagnetic powers to stay afloat and even float while they sleep. It's not a bad idea to get an enclosed bed for them to keep them from getting in the way while asleep.

Food

Magnemites do not eat, they charge. They do not have a mouth and cannot enjoy any physical food, even poké treats like poké puffs or malasadas, although they do often enjoy feeling included and will like to be offered treats (even fake ones) when other pokémon are given them. Your power bill may raise a bit but at least you're not spending quite as much on pokéfood.

Grooming / Maintenance

Although they can twist their screws themselves, sometimes Magnemites need a helping hand. Always be cautious when touching electric types, but Magnemite are unlikely to shock you.

A great option for beginner steel trainers! So long as you have access to electricity, which shouldn't be a problem as there are often free pokécharging stations in pokécenters and even libraries, you can raise a Magnemite. They're easy going and friendly and don't pose a threat to kids, so long as the kids know how to treat pokémon.
